NERVOUS TREMBLING
DIVING INTO THE HUMAN EMOTIONAL LANDSCAPE

k
In this university course we took a very intuitive approach to design: we thought about different feelings and wrote down every word and connotation that came to our minds. We then built pairs of various adjectives and verbs and tried to translate them into a visual, really trying to recreate that feeling visually, where the inherent meaning of the words could be sensed just by looking at it.
I created a small series of animations that depicted the feeling of trembling nervously. I tried being objective in my design approach, not necessarily thinking about this rather negative emotion in a bad way. My visual concepts combine the feeling of excitement with anxiety — taking quick breaths, having the blood rush through your body, your legs shaking, mind pacing, a kind of graphic nightmare, that is equally beautiful and terrible.
