HEUTE RUHETAG
BRANDING PROJECT FOR THE BAR AT OUR MASTER'S EXHIBITION ECHO

Zz
As we were not sponsored and therefore did not have many food and drink options, we took
the limitations as an opportunity to create a funny, tongue-in-cheek concept with the name
Heute Ruhetag which in german means  today. We wanted it to look seemingly random and kind of shitty but still with a cool touch: a modern bold typeface meets the grumpy but charming flair of the Wiener Beisl that just serves beer and wine and doesn't care about fancy drinks. As we needed something that was fast, easy and cheap to execute, but still would look good and carefully designed, we printed various stickers for branding the bar itself, the chairs, the drinks — everything. Because we also wanted the bar branding to be linked to our ECHO exhibition, we thought of a mascot, which ultimaltely resulted in the birth of the Batolphin, a hybrid of various animals using echolocation. Weird, but oddly charming.
