branding project for the bar at our master's exhibition ECHO.
as we were not sponsored and therefore did not have many food and drink options, we took the limitations as an opportunity to create a funny, tongue-in-cheek concept with the name "heute ruhetag" which is german for "closed today". we wanted it to look random and kind of shitty but with a cool touch: modern bold graphic and typeface design meets the grumpy but charming flair of the "wiener beisl" that only serves beer and wine and doesn't care about fancy drinks.
as we needed something that was fast, easy and cheap to execute, but still would look designed, we printed various stickers for branding the bar itself, the chairs, the drinks
everything.
because we also wanted the bar branding to be linked to our ECHO exhibition, we thought of a weird mascot, which ultimaltely resulted in the birth of the batolphin, which is a hybrid of various animals using echolocation.
